iHeartDogs.com Surges Past 1 Million Customers, $2 Million Donated to Charity Partners

iHeartDogs.com Surges Past 1 Million Customers, $2 Million Donated to Charity Partners

Anaheim, California (February 19, 2019) — iHeartDogs.com is excited to announce two important milestones as they celebrate their fifth year in operation. The online pet retailer and content publisher reached one million customers through the iHeartDogs store and $2 million raised for charity partners.

“We’ve had the absolute privilege of serving over one million customers in our short history through iHeartDogs.com,” explains co-founder Marshall Morris. “But even more importantly, we just surpassed $2 million raised for our charity partners through the iHeartDogs community.”

iHeartDogs was founded by Marshall Morris and Justin Palmer in 2014, starting out as a Facebook page and blog that celebrates dogs. Since then, their monthly readership has grown to over five million monthly readers, which, combined with a robust ecommerce store, makes them a unique, single source for both quality education and products for pet owners.

iHeartDogs.com has amassed over 100 breed specific Facebook pages and groups encompassing 25 million followers and 1.5 million email subscribers. The community has become one of the largest and most generous benefactors to animal welfare online.

“People often ask us: are you an online retailer or a blog? The answer is – yes!” Co-founder Justin Palmer continues, “One of the things that sets us apart is our unique model of using content to inform, educate, and inspire pet owners. Sometimes that leads to a purchase from our store, a conversation around an important topic, or a connection through another touchpoint. We enjoy being a part of the daily lives of our pet owner community vs. a transactional place they go to only when they need a specific product.”

iHeartDogs currently sells lifestyle products for passionate pet parents, as well as pet supplies and supplements. The company recently released an organic line of premium CBD oil for dogs and cats under the Cannanine brand. http://cannanine.com

iHeartDogs refers to their supporters and customers as “HEROES” and is committed to showing them the actual impact that their purchases make. Each month customers get a “HERO Report” impact receipt showing them exactly what their individual purchases provided for each of our causes to date.

You can learn more about the iHeartDogs blog, store, and impact here: http://iheartdogs.com.

Introducing PetWeighter – the ingenious dog bowl that ‘sits and stays’

Introducing PetWeighter – the ingenious dog bowl that ‘sits and stays’

United Kingdom, February 18, 2019: Dog owners in the UK have been bowled over by PetWeighter™ – a product that has transformed feeding time for British pooches. Thanks to its amazing success across the pond, this innovative dog bowl is now set to get tails wagging throughout America, too.

Available now at Amazon.com, PetWeighter has been uniquely designed to prevent the spills and mess that can often result from an ‘ever-moving’ bowl. It also ensures a constant supply of water, whatever the season*.

Engineered by a resourceful dog owner for his Schnauzer, Charlie, who was diagnosed with diabetes, this clever product was originally created to stop him knocking over the bowl and therefore provide his canine pal with access to plenty of water throughout the day.

Strong and sturdy, the two-part PetWeighter comprises a removable bowl on top of a base that can be filled with sand, water or a combination of the two. This means that the high-strength, food-grade plastic bowl will not move when a dog nudges it – and stops the container and contents from travelling across the kitchen or yard. It will also stay put if a clumsy human kicks it by accident or a mischievous child knocks into it while playing on the floor.

Simply unscrew the cap, fill and then secure again, replacing the bowl on the top, for a robust receptacle that will always ‘sit’ and ‘stay’! When completely full, the PetWeighter can tip the scales at a mighty 28 pounds (13kg) – enough to prevent food and water spills by even the biggest hungry hounds.

The PetWeighter bowl is detachable for washing or filling with food and can be placed on a dishwasher top rack for a thorough, hygienic clean. The top is then easily aligned to the base and locked straight back into place with a simple click.

The rounded corners of the PetWeighter make it conveniently chew-resistant, while the bowl itself has no dirt-attracting cracks or crevices. As well as providing ongoing access to water, the PetWeighter is great news for arthritic dogs** at meal times as its elevated height (8¼ inches / 21cm) removes the need to stoop down, which can put stress on joints, necks and shoulders, particularly in older animals.

A full supply of water is essential for almost every canine bodily function, aiding a dog’s digestion, maintaining its body temperature at a normal level and preventing damage to organs. While awareness of pet hydration during the summer is high, it is equally important to ensure dogs drink the required level of fluids during the winter, as rigorous exercise and home heating systems can accelerate the dehydration process. Depending on its size, a dog requires around 0.5 oz to 1 oz (15 to 30 ml) of water per pound of body fat, each day. Water spillage can be a major cause of insufficient hydration, as our four-legged friends often push and tip their bowl, losing vital drinking supplies as they do.

With no more growls caused by the frustration of a shifting dish, PetWeighter comes with a dark gray base and a choice of Red, Turquoise Blue, Pale Pink or Hot Pink top bowl.

Rob Peacock, owner of Peak Pet Products Ltd, said, “PetWeighter is a bowl that really sits and stays! Creating an immovable pet feeding and watering zone, it simply cannot be budged, no matter how hard a dog tries. We designed it to make water and dinner spills a thing of the past, so it’s a treat for the pet owner, too – saving wastage, mess and cleaning up time. What’s more, our faithful friends no longer have to chase their bowl to enjoy their food or drink.”

Designed by award-winning British small business, Peak Pet Products Ltd, PetWeighter has a suggested retail price of $29.99 and is available on Amazon.com.

Notes to editors

  • In 2018, PetWeighter won the Silver accolade in the international PetQuip Industry Awards in the category ‘Pet Product of the Year – Health and Technical’.
  • * Owners should ensure that bowls are filled regularly to ensure a constant supply of fresh drinking water.
  • ** Before taking any specific actions in relation to a pet’s health or behavioral issues, PetWeighter would advise owners to seek independent advice from a veterinary practitioner.
  • … Dog owners should always consult a veterinary practitioner regarding their dog’s water requirements, as needs vary according to breed, size and health conditions.

The Cat Fanciers’ Association, Inc. (CFA) Announces Their Most Popular Cat Breeds of 2018

The Cat Fanciers’ Association, Inc. (CFA) Announces Their Most Popular Cat Breeds of 2018

ALLIANCE, OH (February 11, 2019 ) — The Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA)—the world’s largest registry of pedigreed cats—has recently announced their most popular cat breeds for 2018, according to the number of cats that were registered throughout the year. CFA, a not-for-profit registry, is the most well-known and influential cat registry in the world.

At the top of CFA’s list of the most popular cat breeds for 2018 is the Ragdoll. True to its name, this cat with big, beautiful, blue eyes and a plush coat is known for being affectionate and loves being held like a, you guessed it, “rag doll.” This breed will follow their humans and curl up with them. Ragdolls are easy sweet and well-behaved cats that are perfect for families and owners leading busy lifestyles.

Landing in second place is the Exotic. This breed is bred to resemble the Persian, with one notable exception – a short, low-maintenance coat.  The Exotic’s coat makes them ideal for owners who want the teddy bear look and sweet personality of the Persian, but who don’t have time to meet the grooming needs of a long-haired cat.

Rounding out the top three is the British Shorthair, a sturdy, dense-coated cat with large teddy bear eyes, and a calm, easy going personality — making it ideal for families. British Shorthairs are known for inspiring a natural calmness in their owners. These extremely affectionate kitties will curl up in your lap and push their nose in your face for attention.

Persians are the fourth most popular cat breed. Known for their luxurious, long coats and big, expressive eyes, Persians are one of the oldest pedigreed cat breeds. Persians are talkative and you should expect them to “chat” with you. They’re also playful, joyous, and never demanding—often described as that unexpected ray of sunshine.

The fifth most popular cat breed is the Maine Coon. Weighing anywhere from 10 to 20 pounds, Maine Coons are considered the largest of the domestic cats and are rugged working cats with shaggy, uneven fur. Maine Coons are exceptionally sweet cats (owners can expect a greeting every time they arrive home) and love any kind of attention—making grooming their long shaggy fur a breeze.

CFA officially recognizes 44 pedigreed cat breeds and is considered the world’s gold standard of registries – only accepting those breeds that undergo a rigorous approval process.

In addition to 44 pedigree breeds, CFA records the non-pedigreed, Household Pet which came in 12th place this year. These non-pedigreed cute cats are welcome at all CFA cat shows that take place every weekend across the globe. #rescueismyfavoritebreed is a hashtag that resonates with CFA. The highly respected association is devoted to all feline friends and recognizes how beloved stray, shelter and non-standard cats are to their owners. The intentional breeding of mixed-breed, stray and rescue cats is not advocated in CFA, but the furry family member population itself is welcome to be recorded and is one of the most popular and competitive exhibition classes in the cat fancy.

Here’s the complete order of rankings, based on CFA’s registration totals during 2018;

Ragdoll, Exotic Shorthair, British Shorthair, Persian, Maine Coon, American Shorthair, Devon Rex, Sphynx, Scottish Fold, Abyssinian, Oriental, Household Pets, Siamese, Norwegian Forest Cat, Cornish Rex, Bengal, Russian Blue, Siberian, Burmese, Birman, Tonkinese, Ocicat, Selkirk Rex, Ragamuffin, American Curl, Japanese Bobtail, Manx, Egyptian Mau, Somali, Balinese, Singapura, Colorpoint Shorthair, Lykoi, Chartreux, Turkish Angora, European Burmese, Bombay, Khao Manee, Burmilla, Korat, American Bobtail, Havana Brown, LaPerm, Turkish Van and American Wirehair.

Cat Fanciers’ Association, Inc.
The Cat Fanciers’ Association, Inc. was founded in 1906 as a not-for-profit association of member clubs and is the world’s largest registry of pedigreed cats. CFA’s mission is to preserve and promote the pedigreed breeds of cats and to enhance the well-being of ALL cats. CFA promotes education, responsible cat ownership and proper care to the owners of millions of cats worldwide. CFA and its affiliate clubs work nationally with local shelters to help humanely reduce homeless and feral cat populations and to encourage voluntary neuter/spay of pet cats. Five Ways to Show Your Pet You Love Them on Valentine’s Day

Five Ways to Show Your Pet You Love Them on Valentine’s Day

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (February 11, 2019) – Love is in the air, and not just for humans. According to the National Retail Federation, Americans were expected to spend $751 million on Valentine’s Day gifts for their pets in 2018. There is no price tag on giving love, so Dr. Jen Kasten, technical services veterinarian at Tomlyn Veterinary Science, shares five fun ways to show your cat or dog extra love on Valentine’s Day.

“Valentine’s Day is a fun, light-hearted holiday and a good yearly reminder to show appreciation to the ones you love, and that’s not just limited to humans,” said Dr. Kasten. “Our pets are our daily companions and there are plenty of ways to make them feel extra special on Valentine’s Day.”

Dr. Kasten shares five ways to make it a celebration that your pet will remember:

  • Treat Scavenger Hunt: It’s no secret that dogs and cats are motivated by food. Make them feel extra special on Valentine’s Day this year by hiding a handful of their favorite treats around the house so they’ll have yummy surprises throughout the day. This technique is also great for helping dogs build confidence as they get a positive reward when they find the treat.
  • Toy Filled Stocking: Who says stockings are just for Christmas? Make or buy a heart shaped stocking and pack it with your pet’s favorite toys and treats. Watching your cat or dog play with new a toy is one of the best experiences, so it’ll be a gift for both you and your pet! Don’t forget to document the opening of the stocking via photos!

  • Opt Outdoors: Live somewhere that’s already warm in February? Hop in the car and head to your dog’s favorite trail for the day. Bring along snacks and plenty of water. Maybe even make it a double date by inviting your dog’s favorite canine friend to come along for the adventure.
  • Take a Trip to a Pet Retail Store: Does your pet have a favorite store? Take them on a surprise trip and let them sniff their way down the aisles, picking out a few (or as many as they want) new toys to take home.
  • Donate a Valentine’s Day Gift to Local Shelter Pets: If your dog or cat isn’t motivated by new toys or treats, or you don’t have a pet, consider putting together a Valentine’s Day gift for animals at your local shelter. Include a new warm blanket or bed, a catnip flavored mouse toy for the cats, a bone to chew on for the dogs, and Tomlyn’s Relax and Calm Chews for cats and dogs. Shelters can be a stressful environment for pets, so it’s important to make them feel as comfortable as possible until they are ready to go to their forever home.

If you celebrate Valentine’s Day with your pet in one of these ways, let us know on social media by using the hashtag #LoveIsInTheAir or #TomlynLovesPets. We’ll be sharing our favorite images on Facebook and Instagram the week of Valentine’s Day.
