Veterinary Pet Insurance(VPI), founded in 1982 when they issued their first insurance policy to famed television canine, Lassie, recently announced the appointment of Judith Gass to the position of Director of Veterinary Marketing.
he role involves being VPI’s lead liaison to the veterinary community, incorporating both education and outreach to vets and their staff, thereby enabling staff to answer questions about pet health insurance and other products and services to their clients.
Gass comes to VPI from CareCredit’s Veterinary Health division and previously held management positions at Akorn, Inc. and Allergan, Inc. With an MBA from the University of California and a bachelor’s degree from California State Long Beach, Gass has a strong background.
Carol McConnell, DVM, MBA, vice president and chief veterinary officer at VPI, shared, “Hiring individuals dedicated to improving access to pet health and who understand the business of veterinary medicine is critical to keeping VPI’s leadership position and providing superior service to pet parents, pets and their doctors.” Vice President of Marketing at VPI, Eric Motter, concurred, sharing that Gass has a valuable reputation as pet health care finance industry expert.
VPI reports that they insure close to 500,000 pets nationwide and have a variety of insurance plans available for dogs and cats but also birds and exotic pets. Plans are available in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia. It is reported that over 2,500 companies across the United State offer VPI Pet Insurance on a voluntary basis to their employees.
Additionally, VPI was ranked among the 2010 “Best Places to Work in Orange County” by the Orange County Business Journal. VPI was also named as one of the “Top Orange County Workplaces” by the Orange County Register in both 2010 and 2011.
