Veterinary Care Specialistsin Highland, Mich. announce new member of the vet team, Stephanie Schmidt, DVM. She is a licensed veterinarian with specialties in wildlife and exotic pets.

“There aren’t a lot of [veterinary clinics] in the area that fill this niche, that are willing to see these kinds of animals. So that is a benefit to the community…Every animal deserves proper care and treatment,” said Schmidt. She is recent graduate from the University Of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine.

The area that VCS is located is full of wild critters and the center receives hurt wild animals often. Schmidt is happy to work with this type of animal and be able to return them to their natural habit.

“We are excited to have someone with special training in managing wildlife and exotic pets since so many of us do not have the benefit of that type of schooling. It is exciting for all of us at VCS, doctors and staff alike, to work with new doctors that have had different educational experiences,” said VCS owner Julie Hass, DVM, MS. “I think many of us enjoy the opportunity to share some of what we have learned over the years, as well.”
