Purina ONE recently launched two new initiatives geared at helping shelter pets. The first program began this week with QR code stickers appearing on Purina ONE’s dry cat food packages. Every person who scans the code will, in turn, allow for $1.00 to be donated to feed shelter pets, with a total goal of $30,000.

 

On the Purina ONE Facebook page, a “Bowl-by-Bowl” program has been launched whereby users take a four-question quiz to challenge perceptions about shelter pets. For each completed quiz, Purina ONE will donate a bowl of food to a shelter in need.

Lisa Luedde, brand manager, Purina ONE brand pet food shared her sentiments, stating, “We believe that the right nutrition can make a world of difference in a shelter pet’s life, so we’ve made it easy for people to help. Scanning a QR code and taking a short quiz is all it takes to help us champion shelter pets.”

 

QR code stickers started appearing throughout November on the 3.5 and 7-pound bags of Purina ONE SmartBlend dry cat food in the Salmon & Tuna and Chicken & Rice varieties. Donations from the QR code scanning will be donated to the Purina ONE network of shelters.

 

The Bowl-by-Bowl programs aims to donate at least 10,000 bowls of food monthly, but for some months a “kicker” will be revealed by Purina ONE. The “kicker” will provide a donation to a shelter that extends beyond money or food, such as providing a pet photographer to photograph shelter pets and increase their chances for adoption.
