In honor of Pet Adoption Month, Pet Supplies Plus, a Livonia, Michigan based company, announced that participating franchise locations will host “Adopt-a-Pet Weekend” on October 13-14.

Pet Supplies Plus (PSP) is a portfolio company of Irving Place Capital and is the third-largest pet specialty retailer in the United States. PSP has a total of 258 stores in 23 states.

Animals available for adoption are cats, dogs, and in some cases, both. The times of the events will vary and interested parties may obtain this information from the individual stores. Pet parents attending the event will receive a new pet checklist along with a coupon for $10 off when they spend $50 in the store.

Dave Bolen, CEO of Pet Supplies Plus, reported, “Adopt-a-Pet Weekend will create a tremendous opportunity for people to make a lasting impact on the lives of so many deserving pets. Potential adopters are going to find wonderful pets and caring people at our Pet Supplies Plus locations, and we’re all excited for people to go home with a perfect new family member.”

After the adoption weekend, Pet Supplies Plus plans to support local animal rescue organizations by offering customers the opportunity to donate upon checkout for the chain’s annual October Donation Drive. Pet Supplies Plus also plans to donate $1,000 to the local partner of the store collecting the most donations.

According to the company, they champion the statement, ‘People Don’t Own Pets, Pets Own People.’
