FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (September 24, 2013) – March Against Cruelty (MAC), a national grassroots organization raising awareness about compassion for animals, announces that it will hold its first march in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on November 16. The March invites all advocates for animals – animal activists, rescue and welfare groups, and individuals who care about the humane treatment of animals – from Florida and out of state to march in solidarity against animal abuse and cruelty.

To help raise awareness about global issues affecting animals, Andrew Kirschner, Ed.D., lead organizer, who writes Kirschner’s Korner and hosts the radio show Kirschner’s Korner Radio, says, “The goal of Florida March Against Cruelty to Animals is to bring together those concerned about the welfare of animals to seek change. We want to raise awareness about the institutional and individual cruelty perpetrated against animals around the globe to encourage more people to take action in their community to oppose cruelty and make humane decisions in their daily lives.”

The inaugural March Against Cruelty to Animals will be held at Huizenga Plaza in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, beginning at noon on November 16. In addition to the march there will be speakers; and animal rescue and welfare groups will be on hand to provide information about their local and statewide programs.

“The key to progress for animals rests with good people standing up for animals and exerting their collective voice,” Wayne Pacelle, President & CEO of The Humane Society of the United States said about the March. “I am excited to hear about burgeoning grassroots activism, like the 2013 March Against Cruelty to Animals, and hope that people of conscience join the effort.”

“Whenever you can stand up, speak out, write, bend an ear, open eyes and hearts and minds, it’s an opportunity to grab, otherwise why do we exist,” said Ingrid Newkirk, President and Co-Founder of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). “Don’t just come to the March; talk it up, tell everyone and bring everyone you can – friends and family members, coworkers and kids!”
