SEATTLE (December 5, 2013) – PetHub™, the world’s fastest way to get lost & found animals home again, announced today its partnership with Glympse™ to participate in Dog is Good™’s “The BOLO Project.” Their initiative will enhance the protection and tracking of a future guide dog being raised by Dog is Good co-founder, Gila Kurtz.
“When the founders of Dog is Good contacted PetHub to track their new puppy’s training, vaccinations, and, of course, emergency contact information, we saw a great opportunity to showcase our newest feature in PetHub: real-time GPS tracking,” said Lorien Clemens, Director of Marketing at PetHub, Inc.
Through a partnership with Glympse.com, PetHub provides a way for pet owners and other pet caretakers (including dog walkers, pet transporters, etc.) to view their animals’ location in real-time. “There are many scenarios where real time location sharing technology is useful, and we are just beginning to scratch the surface of how Glympse can be incorporated into the things we do everyday,” said Timo Bauer, Vice President of Business Development for Glympse. “PetHub is another great example how our real time location sharing platform can be leveraged, and in this case for such an interesting, unique and truly useful way — to track our beloved pets. We look forward to tracking our four-legged friends online.”
The new puppy (a female yellow lab named “BOLO” – short for “Be on the Lookout”) will also be making public appearances to raise awareness and money for Leader Dogs for the Blind, the organization that provides service dogs for the visually impaired, blind, and deaf-blind individuals. Leader Dogs for the Blind and Kurtz will share young BOLO’s travels through PetHub’s new Glympse-powered feature. The first appearance tracked by the new feature will take place during a holiday parade on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, in Seal Beach, Calif. “Keeping in line with this year’s theme of ‘Surf, Sand and Santa,’ BOLO will be riding a small float built to look like a fabulous sand castle dog house,” said Ms. Kurtz, BOLO’s guardian. “BOLO will be representing ‘The BOLO Project’ and her future role as a Leader Dog for the Blind.”
BOLO’s initial training will last only a year, but her protection through PetHub and Glympse, along with the love of all involved, will last a lifetime.
Editor’s note: Fifty percent of the proceeds for purchases of “The BOLO Project” tags benefit Leader Dogs for the Blind. For more information, visit http://PetHub.com/dig.
