LAKE DALLAS, Tex. (June 7, 2013) – FunStuffForDogs.com has launched the Internet’s first and only e-commerce website specializing in funny dog products. The site’s goal is to offer the pet industry’s funniest dog toys, dog treats, beds, Halloween costumes and more.
Owner Lisa M. Woody found an underutilized niche in a very competitive industry using nearly 10 years of feedback from dog owners who had shopped her online pet boutique since 2004.
“Everyone in the pet industry is talking about trends like organic products, technology and prescription kibble. But our customers showed us that humor is the big trend that no one’s talking about,” says Woody. Pet products manufacturers have increased their use of humor in both products and packaging over the past five years, according to Woody. Her website aims to capitalize on that.
“Over the years, our ‘Funny Dog Stuff’ department consistently received the most visitors, the most page views, the longest time on each page and the most orders,” she explains. “I realized that humor is what we should be focusing on.” After extensive web research, she found that there wasn’t a single e-commerce site specializing in funny dog products.
What’s a funny dog toy? Some of her site’s best-sellers are the Humungatongue, a fetch ball with a long rubber tongue that sticks out; the Origummi, a chew toy in an origami crane shape; plush talking Three Stooges toys; dog cookies shaped like cats and mailmen; a doggie tee that says, “I’m with Stupid;” a tug toy called, “the ex;” and a bed shaped like a Ferrari. There are even humorous Holiday dog toys, such as a bag of coal for naughty dogs.
The future looks bright for funny dog toys, says Woody. “Humor is a conversation starter,” she explains. “People love getting a reaction from other people, especially at gift-giving time. Dogs make us smile, and now they can make us laugh, too.”
FunStuffForDogs.com, which ships nationwide, is owned by Uptown Dog Club, Inc., a Texas corporation.
