Heidi’s Heroes is another special social media contest that will run once a month. The inspiration behind Heidi’s Heroes is in memory of Garcia’s beloved rescue dog, Heidi. The organization Heidi was adopted from consisted of volunteers who did incredible work and paid for almost all of the animals’ expenses out of pocket. The work that this particular organization does on a daily basis is amazing and does so without any recognition or fanfare. Heidi’s Heroes’ submissions will be accepted from 1st through the 21st of every month.
This contest will give pet lovers the opportunity to nominate a hero by submitting a photo with a brief write up. The individual who receives the most votes will be named ‘Heidi’s Hero.’ It’s Garcia’s hope that by creating this contest, it will shine a spotlight on the people and organizations that make a difference in the treatment or care of adoption animals.
