The inaugural event of Canine Camp Getaway of NY was announced by its owner, Janine Costa, this week. Costa, a dog vacation expert, launched this dog vacation destination located on 300 acres against the Adirondack Mountains in Lake George, New York. Held at Roaring Brook Ranch from June 24 through June 28, 2012, the resort is located 3-1/2 hours from New York City.
Situated on 300 acres, the resort is geared towards dogs and their dog-loving owners. Some of the activities and classesoffered include Frisbee and lure coursing, canine freestyle dancing, Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog preparation along with “Barks & Crafts” and swimming in the dog-friendly pool.
“I’m not the only one subscribing to the ‘Have dogs, will travel’ motto,” Costa said. “We already have guests signed up from Georgia to Michigan, Ohio to Canada, and everywhere in between! People will go to the ends of the earth if it means their dog will have a really good time. And with all the opportunities to romp, play, chase, swim and socialize…well, if you’re a dog, it just doesn’t get much better than this!”
During their time at the resort, human guests also enjoy an array of activities including horseback riding, gourmet dining, nightly Yappy Hour in the dog-friendly bar, evening entertainment, and an on-site spa. Seminars by a staff of top veterinarians, dog trainers, and behavioral and nutritional experts are included for all registered guests.
“Studies consistently show that dogs lower our blood pressure, help us de-stress, stave off depression and provide real and measurable health benefits. At the same time, dogs that enjoy regular physical and mental stimulation live longer. So going on vacation together benefits everyone!” explains Canine Camp Getaway owner and founder Janice Costa.
