American Pet Products Association’s management expert and president, Robert Vetere, has authored a new book titled From Wags to Riches: How Dogs Teach Us to Succeed in Business & Life (BenBella Books, December 2011).
Vetere’s 20 years of experience teaching management seminars for Fortune 500 companies coupled with his expertise in the pet product world serve the message of the book well. By studying the human-animal bond with Purdue University researchers, Vetere showcases how qualities of dogs can help people to dramatically improve their own personal effectiveness and ability to lead.
With a forward by Dr. Marty Becker and endorsed by Animal Planet’s Victoria Stillwell, For Wags to Riches seeks advice from the family dog in being a role model for business leaders. Qualities highlighted include responsibility among pack members, tuning in to address one another’s needs and emotions and observing body expressions and cues to better lead.
Vetere features interviews from CEOs who love animals and provides practical tips from animal behavioral experts to help people explore their own creativity and environment. In viewing our relationships with dogs, Vetere details how people can build their own model for teamwork in today’s corporate world.
As President of the APPA, the largest trade organization for pet products in the world, Vetere works with Dr. Marty Becker of ABC’s “Good Morning America” and Dr. Alan Beck at Purdue University to explore the human-animal bond and has been interviewed by BusinessWeek, The Wall Street Journal, Kiplinger’s, Entrepreneur magazine, “World News Tonight,” CBS News, CNN, The New York Times magazine, The Washington Post, USA Today, and The Chicago Tribune.
The book will be available in bookstores nationwide in December, 2001 and is published by BenBella Books, with distribution by Perseus Distribution.
