The Pet Industry's Leading Resource for News & Content Distribution

Today the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. has launched a new Preferred Pet Club program in collaboration with the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). The program will raise funds for the ASPCA while providing shoppers with savings.

Lasting through the end of the year, every $100 in pet-related spending, all A&P, Pathmark, Waldbaum’s, The Food Emporium and Superfresh customers will receive a coupon for nine dollars off their next grocery order, and A&P will make a one dollar donation to the ASPCA. As an added benefit, pet owners who sign up for A&P’s Live Better Wellness Club will have the opportunity to save an additional 10 percent on all of their pet prescriptions.

“A&P is always looking for creative ways to help customers save on their day-to-day purchases,” said John Moritz, senior vice president of marketing at A&P. “Through this program, we are especially proud to support the meaningful work of the ASPCA, while giving pet owners even more reason to look at their neighborhood A&P, Pathmark, Waldbaum’s, The Food Emporium or Superfresh store as the go-to resource for their pet care needs.”

A&P stores are located in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Connecticut. A&P is planning to roll out Adopt-A-Pet events in select stores throughout the year to help find homes for abandoned and mistreated animals. “The fact that customers will be able to help support the ASPCA by doing something as simple as grocery shopping is really remarkable,” said Elysia Howard, vice president of marketing and licensing for the ASPCA. “The generous contributions we’ll receive from A&P through the Preferred Pet Club Program will allow us to do even more life-saving work across the country.”
