DALLAS (April 30, 2015)The Dallas Pet Expo returns to Dallas Market Hall on May 9, 2015, from 10am until 6pm, with activities designed to celebrate the bond between pets and their companions. The event also coincides with the conclusion of National Pet Week, an annual week of celebration targeting the over 200 million animals who touch pet companions’ lives on a daily basis.

Last year, the event drew a crowd of over 11,000 people, highlighting the impact that the Pet Expo continues to have on the Greater Dallas Area and organizers anticipate another packed event in 2015.

“The Dallas community has really embraced this important community event and we’re excited to continue the Dallas Pet Expo tradition in conjunction with National Pet Week,” says Ethan Barnett, Vice President of Event Management for Amazing Pet Expos.

One of the many ways to participate in National Pet Week is by adopting a pet from the Mega-Adoption Area at the 2015 Dallas Pet Expo. Over 20 local rescue organizations as well as over 100 adoptable pets will be on-hand at the event and looking for new forever homes. Several of these organizations are able to participate at a discounted or fully underwritten rate thanks in large part to corporate partners such as, Banfield Pet Hospital, Blue Buffalo and Plato Pet Treats.

“As the only no-kill animal shelter in Dallas County, Dog & Kitty City is always looking to show off our adoptable pets to as many people as possible,” says Beth Sullivan, Humane Society of Dallas County Board Member. “This is a huge event that will allow us to provide information about the Humane Society of Dallas County and hopefully find forever homes for some of our furry friends!”

In addition to the Mega Adoption Event, the Dallas Pet Expo also features opportunities to meet and greet with Lon Hodge and Gander, a national service dog ambassador, as well as nearly 100 exhibitors, the latest animal sports, and education about exotic animals. Low-cost immunizations and discounted micro-chipping courtesy of Community Pet Outreach, and free nail trims are also available for all the furry friends who need them.

Barnett added that the Dallas Pet Expo remains as one of the largest, free pet-events to the public in the entire country, thanks to the outstanding support from Dallas-area businesses and national companies, as well as many enthusiastic volunteers. All well-behaved pets are welcome, as long as they’re on a fixed lead (or in a carrier) and have proof of age-appropriate rabies vaccines.
