Royal Canin Brings the Nation’s Largest Cat Show to Cleveland

Cat Fanciers’ Association International Cat Show features over 1000 felines from around the world, including “America’s Got Talent” Savitsky Cats

CLEVELAND, OH (September 12, 2019) — Over 1000 famous cats, fancy cats, athletic cats and adoptable cats return to the International Exposition (I-X) Center on October 12-13, 2019 for the Cat Fanciers’ Association’s International Cat Show presented by Royal Canin. More than 10,000 cat lovers and fans of America’s Got Talent’s famous acrobatic felines, the Savitsky Cats, will enjoy two full days of cat competitions, performances, adoptions, shopping, contests, educational workshops and crafts.

Since 1906, CFA cat shows have been celebrating the human-feline bond and this year promises to be no different, except in size. The 2019 cats-travaganza will be a whopping 125,000 square feet of pure cat-bliss. “This event is for everyone who enjoys cats or wants to get to know them better. Forty-five unique fluffy and hairless breeds, famous cats you have only seen online or on TV, and hundreds of the world’s most prestigious show cats – all together under one roof. It’s going to be absolute purr-adise,” said Desiree Bobby, the event’s Marketing Director.

Throughout the two-day event, children and adults can join the fun by dressing in their favorite cat-themed attire and have a chance to walk the catwalk. Pedigreed and non-pedigreed cats and kittens from around the world will be competing to be each judges’ Top 15 Finalist, with the grand finale of “The Best in Show” held on Sunday (October 13) afternoon. In addition to observing 16 rings of competition, fans can also cheer on their favorite cat in costume on the main stage and the cat-hletic cats competing in the agility-ring. Guests will also enjoy the Savitsky Cats (as seen on “America’s Got Talent”) acrobatic performances throughout the day and even meet them off-stage to snap a selfie. Some of Instagram’s finest feline celebrities will be there to meet, greet and, very possibly, squeeze for no additional fee. The current list of famous cat talent includes: Sunglass Cat, Sauerkraut Kitty, Der the Cat and Farrah Pawcett.

One of the most loved events at the show is the Household Pet Competition, where most cats going head to head in this class come from shelters or rescue situations. Judges evaluate these cats based on purr-sonality and adoration.  Fans root for their favorite and can even sign up their companion cats to join CFA through the Companion Cat World (CCW) program. All CCW members receive an official card with photo and the name of their “human.”

Guests cannot bring cats to the show, but they can take a fur-ever friend home. In 2018, attendees adopted more than 75 fur-tunate kittens and over 100 are expected to find new homes during the 2-day event this year. Each kitten adopted at the event will go home with food from Royal Canin and other goodies from show sponsors and vendors. CFA has commitments from the following shelters and rescues: Cleveland Animal Protective League, Euclid Beach Cat Project, The Animal Charity of Ohio, CLE Foster Kittens, Forever Friends Foundation, House of Mews, Purrfect Paws, Tails from the City, Viva Los Gatos Cat Rescue and Weirdo Cat Lovers of Cleveland

Show hours are: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. There will be plenty of food and drink options; most visitors stay for at least a few hours. Events, contests, workshops, and educational activities run throughout the day. With 80 cat-centric vendors in the Meow Mall there will be plenty of gifts to purchase for your kitty or to keep for yourself. Adults can drop after they shop and relax at the cocktail bar.
