PetSafe® Brand Invites Pet Owners to Visit Local Dog Parks Saturday, May 6 for First Annual “PetSafe National Dog Park Day”

PetSafe® Brand kicks off 2017 Bark for Your Park campaign with celebrations at dog parks across the country

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (May 03, 2017) –PetSafe® Brand is encouraging pet owners across the country to visit their favorite local dog parks on Saturday, May 6 to celebrate “PetSafe National Dog Park Day.” PetSafe Brand’s first annual National Dog Park Day will kick off the seventh year of its annual Bark for Your Park campaign.

“Spending a few hours a week at a local dog park is a great way for pet parents to socialize their pups and meet like-minded dog owners,” said Willie Wallace, CEO of Radio Systems® Corporation, parent company of the PetSafe Brand. “Bringing members of communities and their dogs together is the reason we started the Bark for Your Park campaign in 2011, and we’re excited to expand the program with the addition of National Dog Park Day each May.”

In addition to encouraging pet owners to take their pets to beloved local dog parks on National Dog Park Day, PetSafe Brand is sponsoring six official National Dog Park Day celebrations in cities across the country on Saturday, May 6:

  • Tehachapi, California
  • Boston, Massachusetts
  • Epworth, Iowa
  • Fort Gratiot, Michigan
  • Merrimack, NH
  • Knoxville, Tennessee

Epworth, Iowa, Fort Gratiot, Michigan and Merrimack, NH will celebrate National Dog Park Day with local dog owners while simultaneously celebrating the grand openings of their new PetSafe dog parks. All three communities were awarded $25,000 to build new dog parks as part of PetSafe Brand’s 2015 Bark for Your Park program.

In Knoxville, Tennessee, PetSafe Brand will host a National Dog Park Day Celebration from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at PetSafe Village Dog Park, which is located at the company’s headquarters at 10424 PetSafe Way, Knoxville, TN 37932. Members of the community are invited to bring their pups along to enjoy dog-friendly treats, a photo booth, prizes and much more with members of the PetSafe Brand team, retail partners and local pet-friendly vendors.

Dog owners who attend a PetSafe National Dog Park Day celebration on Saturday, May 6 are encouraged to share pictures of the event on social media using #DogParkDay for a chance to win over $600 in PetSafe Brand products to turn their yard into a secure area for their pet to play.

About Bark for Your Park™
In 2011, PetSafe® Brand developed and launched the nationwide Bark for Your Park campaign with the goal of providing dog parks that community members, civic leaders and pet owners would love, use and support for years to come. To date, PetSafe Brand has helped fund 52 off-leash parks.

In 2017, PetSafe Brand will award 25 communities over $250,000 in grants, including five New Park Awards valuing $25,000 each, 10 communities to receive Makeover Awards valuing $10,000 each, and 10 communities to receive Enhancement Awards valuing $5,000 each. Communities can submit a grant application on May 1 through June 30, 2017. The chosen communities will be announced in August. Grant recipients will receive a combination of funds as well as commercial grade dog park equipment from UltraSite™, a PlayCore Company.
