Local Students Encouraged to Submit Artwork for Bideawee’s 11th Annual Love Your Pet Art Contest

Westhampton, New York, January 28, 2019 – Bideawee, a leading animal welfare and pet adoption organization serving metropolitan New York and Long Island, is currently accepting artwork submissions for its 11th annual Love Your Pet Art Contest. Students from schools across Long Island are encouraged to submit artwork that showcases their love of pets.

“We’ve received hundreds of paintings, drawings, sculptures and photography for Bideawee’s Love Your Pet contest over the past eleven years,” said Amy Brostoff, Director of Marketing at Bideawee. “We are grateful that our event inspires creativity from Long Island’s talented young artists and pet lovers, and we look forward to receiving great artwork again this year. We hope that the community will attend the Art Expo to support these young artists and to vote on the winners.”

The contest is divided into two groups depending on the student’s age. First through eighth graders can submit any type of artwork (drawings, paintings, sculptures, etc.) for the contest, which must be mailed or dropped off at Bideawee’s Westhampton Adoption Center located at 118 Old Country Road before the February 4th deadline. All artwork must have a completed entry form attached. Artwork submissions will be displayed on February 9th and February 10th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on February 11th through February 14th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bideawee’s Art Expo located at the Adoption Center.

The contest winners will be determined by public vote and announced on February 20th. Prizes will be awarded in four groupings based on the artists’ grades. A $5 donation will provide entrance into the Art Expo, and the funds from ticket sales will be used to help continue to care for the pets in need at Bideawee.

Students in the 9th through 12th grades are eligible to submit photography for the online Love Your Pet Art Contest. Photo submissions will be displayed online, and voting will be open from February 5th through February 14th. Winners of the online photo contest will be announced on February 15th.
