Bideawee to Host 37th Annual Pet Memorial Day Event in Wantagh

Wantagh, New York, July 24, 2019 – Bideawee, the oldest no-kill animal rescue and welfare organizations serving metropolitan New York and Long Island, announced the date of its 37th annual Pet Memorial Day. This year’s event will be held on Sunday, September 8 from 1-2 p.m. at the Bideawee Pet Memorial Park in Wantagh, which is located at 3300 Beltagh Avenue.

“We encourage the public to attend our special memorial service to honor their beloved pets that have passed and to celebrate their memories,” said Leslie Granger, President and CEO at Bideawee. “Since 1916, our Pet Memorial Parks in Wantagh and Westhampton have been the final resting place for more than 65,000 animals, which is why we host this annual ceremony as a loving tribute to the community’s departed companion animals.”

In advance of the event, supporters are asked to submit a dedication to their pets, which is read aloud during the ceremony. The memorial will include music, light refreshments, flower distribution, a commemorative flameless candle for candle lighting and more.

In addition to serving as the final resting place for thousands of companion animals – including exotic pets such as several monkeys, a skunk, an iguana, an alligator and more – Bideawee offers free burials for service animals, including military, police and fire animals. Bideawee also hosts pet loss support groups that are open to the public.
