Bideawee Invites Local Students to Submit Artwork for the 10th Annual Love Your Pet Art Contest

Westhampton, New York, January 17, 2017 – Bideawee, a leading animal welfare and pet adoption organization serving metropolitan New York and Long Island, is pleased to announce it’s now accepting artwork submissions for the 10th annual Love Your Pet Art Contest. Students from schools across Long Island are encouraged to submit artwork expressing their love of pets.

“For the past ten years, we’ve had the privilege of receiving hundreds of paintings, drawings, sculptures and photography from Long Island’s talented young artists,” said Amy Brostoff, Director of Marketing at Bideawee. “We enjoy helping young pet lovers cultivate their artistic culture, and look forward to all of the submissions we’ll receive this year. We hope that our Long Island neighbors will support the students and Bideawee by attending the Art Expo and voting on artwork submissions.”

The contest is divided into two groups depending on the student’s age. First through eighth graders can submit any type of artwork (drawings, paintings, sculptures, etc.) for the contest, which must be mailed or dropped off at Bideawee’s Westhampton Adoption Center located at 118 Old Country Road before the February 5th deadline. All artwork must have a completed entry form attached. The first 300 entries will be displayed at Bideawee’s Art Expo located at the Adoption Center on February 10th and February 11th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on February 12th through February 16th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The contest winners will be determined by public vote and announced on February 20th. Prizes will be awarded in four groupings based on the artists’ grades. A $5 donation will provide entrance into the Art Expo, and the funds from ticket sales will be used to help continue to care for the pets in need at Bideawee.

Students in the 9th through 12th grades are eligible to submit photography for the online Love Your Pet Art Contest. Photo submissions will be displayed online, and voting will be open from February 6th through February 16th. Winners of the online photo contest will be announced on February 20th.
