DENVER (May 12, 2016) – The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Foundation announced today that it has received a grant of $60,000 from Zoetis – a leader in animal health, research and discovery – to establish the Zoetis Restricted Fund, in support of animal health studies.

The grant will be used to fund research, completed by ACVIM Diplomates, with direct clinical application in the following general areas of interest: chronic diseases — microvascular and cardiac; prevention (biological) and treatment (antimicrobial, immunomodulators) of infectious diseases; pain, inflammation and allergy; metabolic diseases; pain and pain management; genetics, growth and performance enhancement. The call for proposals will be announced to ACVIM Diplomates on July 6, 2016, with a deadline of September 6, 2016.

Zach Mills, DVM, Associate Director of Research Alliances and External Innovation in Veterinary Medicine Research and Development at Zoetis said “We are honored to be able to make an impact in large and small animal internal medicine by funding research critical to the practice of the ACVIM Diplomate community. The ACVIM Foundation and Zoetis have successfully partnered together in the past to provide much needed funding for research, and we look forward to another great partnership.”

“The ACVIM Foundation is committed to eliminating animal and human disease by supporting discovery, education, and partnerships throughout the community of medicine,” said Andrea Miller, Director of the ACVIM Foundation. “This strategic partnership with Zoetis provides funding for advanced veterinary research that will make a significant difference in the studies around the diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of disease.”

Awarded proposals will be announced by the end of November. All approved grants must be completed within two years from the time the grant has been issued. For more information, visit
